Altars and temples Statement

My creative process begins by collecting things that “speak to me”. Whether man-made or natural materials, I resonate with what has been around for a while and conveys the passage of time. I use patinaed metal, old wood and concrete, worn shells and rocks, vintage bamboo fishing poles, rare beads and finials, to name a few. There is a mystery about older places and things and they tell a story that is all their own.

I find things in nature, antique shops, flea markets, and while walking along the road or in the forests. Giving new life to discarded objects that I see as beautiful fulfills me and there is great joy in discovering how to put all the pieces together. Although there is a lot of problem solving in their construction, my intention is to stay out of my head and let my heart and intuition guide me.

The little Buddhas in my art represent all of us who are awakening to a higher expanded consciousness. Jade has a luminous and translucent beauty and is known as a protective stone with soothing, heart opening energy.

Care and cleaning: Please handle with utmost care, as I use old wood, materials, and objects in my artwork. The best way to clean the art is to gently dust with a soft paint brush, while holding the piece securely. A smaller brush will work especially well in removing dust in and around the intricate details. A feather duster can be used on the broader areas, or a larger soft paint brush. DO NOT use any water or liquid cleansers on the art. The moss is preserved and will remain green, although it is possible that a strand may come loose every now and then when cleaning.

Hanging: Make sure the art piece is firmly secured on a wide-headed nail before letting go of art to avoid breakage. If an accident should happen please do not hesitate to contact me, and feel free to reach out with any questions at all: laura@lauratrisianoart.com
